I have been coming to Yamako for about twenty years, and have eaten there under three different owners. The first iteration was great, the second one not that much, but the third (the current) one is by far the best. For me it is the best sushi place in White Rock, and (along with a certain Indian place in White Rock, and certain Greek place on Davie downtown) one of the three restaurants I like most in greater Vancouver. Sushi quality is first-rate, the selection of other dishes is great (how often have you seen "Real Wasabi" on offer? Saba Shioyaki? Unagi Kabayaki?), and most importantly every dish is excellent. The atmosphere is unpretentious - which I like very much - and the service very friendly. Yamako Sushi punches way above it's weight class, and is terrific regardless of the price category.
